People, knowledge and open systems

TUX Network Israel is an independent community project focused on free software, Linux and internet infrastructure. Its website and blog share practical knowledge and introduce projects that connect technology with collaboration and learning.

A shared commitment to Linux

Behind TUX Network Israel are Michael, Eli and Abraham, united by the wish to make Linux and free software more familiar and accessible in Israel. The project also draws on practical experience in IT administration. Their shared interest extends from the systems themselves to the people who use them: newcomers taking their first steps, experienced users exchanging knowledge and people who want to understand their own digital tools.

The team would like to see more Linux users in Israel and more opportunities for them to learn from one another. They want to recommend Linux through clear explanations, practical examples and a realistic understanding of what its installation and maintenance involve. A useful recommendation helps someone make an informed choice and gives them a good place to begin.

A vision for an open, free network

Their goal is an open network in which people can share knowledge, discover useful services and contribute to independent projects. In this vision, software freedom means being able to understand how a system works, adapt it to a need and share improvements with others.

The same approach applies to infrastructure: understandable systems, open standards and the ability to maintain services independently. Building such a network is ongoing work, supported by documentation, careful administration and people willing to help one another.

Making participation possible

The team hopes to encourage a welcoming Linux community in Israel, with room for different levels of experience. A first contribution can be a question, a translated explanation, a tested instruction or a report about something that needs improvement. Each can help make technical knowledge easier for the next person to use.

TUX Network Israel is a place to develop that idea through useful articles, shared projects and conversation. People interested in Linux, free software or cooperation are welcome to get in touch and describe what they would like to learn or contribute.
